# Toxic Fashion Detector > A free tool to analyze clothing and fashion products for toxic, harmful, or synthetic materials. Built by New Bloom. ## What it does Toxic Fashion Detector lets anyone scan a clothing product URL or paste a fabric composition (e.g. "95% Polyester, 5% Elastane") and receive: - A **health score from 0–100** based on materials, certifications, and known chemical risks - A **recommendation**: Excellent / Good / Moderate / Poor / Avoid - A breakdown of every material with individual safety ratings - **Health concerns** flagged for toxic inputs (PFAS, formaldehyde, BPA, phthalates, azo dyes, etc.) - **Healthier alternatives** suggested for low-scoring products ## Brand Directory The app includes a community-curated **brand directory** at `/brands` — listing hundreds of fashion brands with average health scores based on real product scans submitted by users. Brands are organized by department (Womenswear, Menswear, Kidswear) and category (Activewear, Sustainable, Swimwear, Underwear, Luxury, Fast Fashion, etc.). ## Scoring Every product gets a Fashion Health Score from 0-100. The score reflects what a garment is made of, how those materials behave against skin, what the brand discloses about chemical treatment and dyes, and which certifications are independently verified. The model, its inputs and their relative weights are proprietary to New Bloom and are not published. Scores are produced by New Bloom's own analysis and are not derivable from this page. ## Key pages - `/` — Scan a product (URL or manual fabric entry) - `/brands` — Full brand directory with health scores - `/brand/{name}` — Individual brand page (e.g. `/brand/Nike`, `/brand/Patagonia`) - `/shoptoxic` — Curated non-toxic fashion picks - `/scoring-method` — What the Fashion Health Score measures ## About Made by **New Bloom** — helping people understand what's in their clothes.
